Why this page exists#
Players ask two related questions before Emberville Early Access: Can I play offline? and Will it be Steam Deck Verified? Neither answer is a rumor thread. This note records what Steam's public App 2295170 payload Confirms today (Accessed 2026-10-19), what stays Unknown, and which sibling pages own Deck hands-on checks.
What Steam Confirms today (2026-10-19)#
Re-checked via the public Steam store appdetails API and the store page.
| Claim | Grade | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Platforms flag Windows = true | Confirmed | platforms.windows |
| Platforms flag Mac = false | Confirmed (store flag) | Not advertised as a Mac ship on this payload |
| Platforms flag Linux = false | Confirmed (store flag) | Flag is false even though a sparse linux_requirements block exists — do not treat that as a Linux ship promise |
| Category Single-player | Confirmed | Store categories |
| Category Steam Cloud | Confirmed | Cloud sync ≠ proof of offline play |
| Category Family Sharing | Confirmed | Sharing rules follow Steam policy; not a LAN/offline guarantee |
| Category Save Anytime | Confirmed | Comfort feature; unrelated to always-online |
| Planned EA date string 27 Oct, 2026 | Confirmed | release_date.date; unlock hour stays Unknown |
| Store DRM / always-online notice | Missing on payload | drm_notice empty → offline risk stays Unknown |
| Steam Deck Verified / Playable / Unsupported badge | Unknown | Not present as a Confirmed badge on this check |
Offline play: how to read the silence#
Steam did not publish an Emberville-specific DRM or always-online notice in the appdetails fields we accessed. That silence is not the same as Confirmed offline mode.
| Player assumption | Grade | Why |
|---|---|---|
| "Single-player means I can launch with no network" | Unknown | Genre/category labels do not prove offline boot |
| "Steam Cloud means I need internet every session" | Unknown / often false elsewhere | Cloud is for sync when online; boot rules are separate |
| "Family Sharing proves offline couch co-op" | False framing | Sharing ≠ multiplayer; Emberville lists Single-player |
| "No DRM notice means cracked-style offline forever" | Out of scope | We only grade store evidence, never piracy claims |
Player action: On Day-1, mark offline only as Observed after a named build boots in Steam Offline Mode (record build id, Deck or desktop, and whether Cloud warnings appeared).
Steam Deck Verified expectations#
| Expectation | Grade | Where to log |
|---|---|---|
| Deck Verified badge before EA | Unknown | Do not invent a badge |
| Deck can install a Windows Proton title | Process (Steam), not Emberville-Confirmed | Use Steam's own Deck UI |
| Default glyphs / 60 FPS / suspend-resume | Unknown until Observed | Steam Deck field note |
| Controller / Steam Input hands-on remaps | Unknown until Observed | Controller & Steam Input remap FAQ |
If an older community post shows a green Verified check for a different game, that is not evidence for App 2295170.
Platform flag drift (editors)#
Earlier field notes may mention Linux or fuller controller category strings. As of 2026-10-19 this payload shows Linux = false and Partial Controller Support (plus DualShock/DualSense rows), not a separate "Full controller support" label. Log any change on the Steam store change-log sheet with an Accessed date instead of silently editing old Confirmed rows.
Pre-EA checklist#
- Re-open App 2295170 → note Platforms, Categories, and any new DRM / account notice.
- Screenshot Deck store row if a Verified/Playable/Unsupported mark appears.
- Keep offline and Deck performance cells empty on Diff templates until Observed.
- Cross-link Cloud/save questions to Demo → EA save expectations.
