EA Day-1 expectations + Demo progress carry-over (official news, 2026-10-22)

Steam news Confirms Next Fest Demo progress carries into Emberville Early Access, plus Day-1 pillars and Demo patch 0.20.17.x. Migration needs a Day-1 self-test.

Why this page exists#

The 2026-10-14 note Demo → EA save expectations grades Demo→EA carry-over as Unknown, because the Steam store page did not say that a Demo save opens in Early Access. On 2026-10-19 Cygnus Cross posted official Steam news that does say Next Fest Demo progress carries over. This page records that Confirmed news claim, the Day-1 pillar list, and the same-day Demo patch version string. It does not record an Observed save migration. Early Access is still a coming-soon store date of 27 Oct, 2026.

Accessed 2026-10-22 via the public Steam news feed for App 2295170.

Confirmed carry-over (official news)#

Source: What to Expect from Emberville Early Access on October 27th (gid 1846651706691961, posted 2026-10-19 17:54 UTC). The post also links YouTube -hDUg7eHfPo. This page links that clip. Trailer footage is not an Observed save test.

The news states:

There's no need to start again. Progress made during the Next Fest Demo will carry over into Early Access, allowing you to continue your adventure from where you left off.

The same post's FAQ separates four labels:

LabelWhat the news saysGrade
Creator & Press PreviewSaves from that version do not carry into Early AccessConfirmed (negative)
PrologueOpening chapter: world, characters, and core mechanicsConfirmed (definition)
Steam Next Fest DemoPublic demo that includes the Prologue; saves carry into Early AccessConfirmed (news)
Early AccessPaid release: first major biome and substantially more than the demoConfirmed (scope claim)
"Progress" / "saves" field list (estate, unlocks, class, inventory, cloud slot)Not itemizedUnknown
This site loaded a Demo save in an EA buildNot possible yet; EA is still coming soonUnknown (not Observed)

Steam Cloud and Save Anytime on the store list still do not by themselves prove migration. That distinction stays on the 2026-10-14 save note. Read both pages. This daily does not rewrite the older one.

Day-1 pillars (announced, not Observed)#

The news says that from day one players can experience:

PillarGradeNot claimed here
Story and exploration (characters, quests, environments)Confirmed as a Day-1 list itemNo quest ids
Combat and character progression (weapons, class system)Confirmed as a list itemNo class or skill table
Town rebuildingConfirmed as a list itemNo building counts
Crafting and building (gather, craft equipment)Confirmed as a list itemNo recipe table
Characters and voice-acted storytellingConfirmed as a list itemNo cast table on this page

The post says the Prologue in the Next Fest demo is the quality bar for the wider game, and that Early Access starts with the first major biome. It does not publish a Demo-versus-EA feature matrix. Which of these pillars are already inside the demo stays Unknown until an Observed pass on the Demo checklist.

First Early Access update (a plan, not a ship note)#

The news says the first Early Access update is planned within the first month after launch, and that some features were held so they would not be rushed into the initial release. Planned contents named in the post:

Final boss of Biome 1Confirmed plan; not a Day-1 claim
Improved controller supportConfirmed plan
Additional language supportConfirmed plan; which languages are Unknown

Do not mark these Observed or Confirmed-as-shipped before the update exists.

Separate post the same day: Demo - Patch Notes (gid 1846651706692980, posted 2026-10-19 22:46 UTC). The note titles itself Patch Notes - Version Alpha Demo 0.20.17.x. That string is a patch-note label, not a Steam build id. This page does not invent a build id.

Selected rows players asked about. The post has more bullets; this is not a full mirror.

Day-1 self-test (still required)#

News carry-over is Confirmed. A migrated save is not Observed until you run it.

  1. In the Demo, record the version string you can actually see. Leave the Steam build id blank if the client does not show one.
  2. Screenshot the progress you care about (estate, unlocks, character).
  3. On Early Access day, try the load once. Log date, build string, action, and result on the EA Day-1 opener and the Pre-EA observation log.
  4. If the load fails, keep the news sentence Confirmed and the migration cell not-Observed. Do not "fix" the grade to match the announcement.

No redeem codes and no class stat sheet belong on this page.

Frequently asked questions

Did the studio confirm that Next Fest Demo progress carries into Early Access?

Yes. The 2026-10-19 Steam news post says there is no need to start again and that Next Fest Demo progress carries into Early Access. Creator and Press Preview saves are explicitly excluded. Accessed 2026-10-22.

Does that Confirmed sentence mean a Demo save was Observed opening in Early Access?

No. Early Access is still coming soon (store date 27 Oct, 2026). Which save fields move stays Unknown until a Day-1 self-test with a recorded build string.

Is Alpha Demo 0.20.17.x a Steam build id?

No. It is the version label printed in the Demo patch notes of 2026-10-19. If the Steam client does not show a build id, leave that cell Unknown.

Can I copy class names or redeem codes from the Day-1 pillar list?

No. The pillars are a studio scope list. This page does not publish class tables, skill numbers, or redeem codes.

Should I ignore the 2026-10-14 save expectations page?

No. That page still records the store-page grade as of 2026-10-14, including that Steam Cloud is not the same claim as Demo to EA migration. This page adds the later news grade and does not rewrite the older one.
