What can I play during the EA delay? Demo still live

During the EA delay, Demo App 5355880 is still free and linked to 2295170. Patch baseline stays 0.20.18.x. Save carry-over is Unknown.

Why this page exists#

Early Access did not unlock, and the store date field is still Coming soon. The practical question is what you can install today. This page locks the 2026-10-28 Demo record: App 5355880 is still a free demo linked to full game 2295170, the official patch baseline is still Demo Alpha 0.20.18.x, and Demo-to-EA save carry-over stays Unknown.

Other Demo categories on the same pull include Single-player, Adjustable Text Size, Camera Comfort, Custom Volume Controls, Adjustable Difficulty, Stereo Sound, and Surround Sound. Those are store labels, not measured settings from a new playtest.

The full game still lists this Demo. App 2295170 demos contains 5355880, and the dlc array includes 5355880. That linkage is Confirmed. It is not a statement that the Demo is paid downloadable content, and it is not a statement that Early Access is on sale. Full-game releasedate is still comingsoon true with the date string Coming soon. There is no price_overview.

What you can do: install App 5355880 from Steam and play that Demo on Windows. What you cannot do: buy the Early Access product and load an EA build. That purchase unlock was not Observed on Oct 27 and is still absent on this re-read. See the day-after lock.

Patch baseline during the delay#

The newest official Demo patch note in the 2026-10-28 news pull is still Demo - Patch Notes, gid 1847286114033847, feed timestamp 2026-10-22 18:35:45 UTC, Community Announcements. The heading inside the post is Patch Notes - Version Demo Alpha 0.20.18.x.

That label is the studio's version string in the post. It is not a public Steam build id, and this page does not treat it as one.

The line-by-line note already lives on Demo patch 0.20.18.x controller fixes. For the delay window, the baseline facts are:

Newer official Demo patch after this gidNot in this news pullThe next Community Announcement is the delay post, not a patch note

No Community Announcement after gid 1847286114033847 is a Demo patch note. The next studio post is the delay announcement gid 1847286114046455. Do not invent a later version label or a silent hotfix.

Save carry-over stays Unknown#

Two official texts have to stay separate.

The older post What to Expect from Emberville Early Access on October 27th (gid 1846651706691961, 2026-10-19) stated that progress from the Steam Next Fest Demo would carry into Early Access. That sentence is Confirmed as text in that dated announcement. The October 27 calendar around it is superseded by the delay. The carry-over expectations page keeps that historical reading.

The delay announcement (gid 1847286114046455) does not restate save transfer, and it does not cancel the older sentence either. It talks about postponement, Next Fest feedback, systems work, and a January 7th 2027 target. It does not say that a Demo save will import, and it does not say to start over.

ClaimGrade on 2026-10-28
Historical Next Fest carry-over sentence in gid 1846651706691961Confirmed as that post's text
Delay post restates or withdraws save transferNot stated. Do not invent either outcome
A Demo save opens in the January 7 Early Access buildUnknown until Observed
Steam Cloud on the Demo store page means the EA product will read that slotUnknown. Cloud is a category, not a migration test
Community screenshot of a successful importUnverified until retested on the EA build

Practical rule while you wait: keep playing the Demo if you want, and do not delete saves because of a rumor. Also do not plan a January purchase on a transfer promise this site cannot Confirm for the delayed build. When Early Access exists, one load attempt on a recorded build id can become an Observed row. Until then the cell stays empty.

What the delay does not change about the Demo#

The delay post's bow-combat example is not an Observed change inside the live Demo. Nothing in gid 1847286114046455 says the current Demo build already contains that rework. Scope limits are on the systems scope page. If you play the Demo today, you are playing the build Steam still serves for App 5355880, with the 0.20.18.x note as the latest official patch text, not a preview of the January 7 combat pass.

Do-not list#

  • No invented save-transfer promise.
  • No invented Demo patch after 0.20.18.x.
  • No Observed grade for controller or bow combat without a recorded session.
  • No claim that a free Demo install is the Early Access purchase.

Frequently asked questions

What can I play while Early Access is delayed?

The Steam Demo, App 5355880. On the 2026-10-28 English appdetails re-read it is still a free demo linked to full game 2295170, with release date Oct 19, 2026 and coming_soon false.

Which Demo patch notes are current?

The latest official Demo patch note in this pull is gid 1847286114033847, labeled Demo Alpha 0.20.18.x. No newer official Demo patch note appeared in the 2026-10-28 news pull.

Will my Demo save carry into Early Access on January 7?

Unknown. An older official post (gid 1846651706691961) said Next Fest Demo progress would carry over. The delay post does not restate or cancel that sentence. There is no Observed Early Access load test. Do not treat carry-over as guaranteed.

Does Steam Cloud on the Demo page prove my save will transfer?

No. Steam Cloud is a Confirmed store category. Migration into the Early Access product is a different claim and stays Unknown.

Did the delay announcement patch bow combat in the Demo?

No Observed change is recorded here. The bow line in the delay post is an example of systems work that needed more time, not a Demo patch note. The live patch baseline remains the 0.20.18.x note.

Can I buy Early Access today and play the full game?

Not on this re-read. App 2295170 is still coming soon, with no price_overview. The playable public app is the Demo.
